Carl Gene Jenkins Obituary Death News: 71 Years Old Farmer and South Whitley Community Member, Dies Unexpectedly


Carl Gene Jenkins, born July 10, 1954, in Warsaw, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, Dec. 15, 2025, at the age of 71. A lifelong resident of the area, Carl was known for his strong work ethic, integrity, and deep roots in the South Whitley community.

A 1972 graduate of Whitko High School, Carl devoted much of his life to farming, a vocation he took great pride in. He found purpose in the land and the changing seasons, and he was especially passionate about International Harvester machinery. In addition to farming, he worked for many years as a flagger at Whitley Mobile Homes.

Carl was admired for his honesty, resilience, and unwavering commitment to his family. Despite facing lifeโ€™s challenges, he consistently put the needs of others before his own, earning the respect and affection of those who knew him.

Outside of work, Carl had a love for muscle cars, cruising, and street racing. Many in South Whitley fondly remember the unmistakable sound of his white 2010 Dodge Challenger. He was also an active member of the North Manchester Moose Lodge 1518, where he enjoyed weekly drawings and time spent with friends.

He is survived by his sons, Curt Jenkins and Kyle Jenkins; daughters, Lori Menck Krause and Lisa Menck; brothers, Robert and Leonard Jenkins; and grandchildren, Clay and Atlas Jenkins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Arden Jenkins.

Visitation will be held Monday, Dec. 22, from 3โ€“7 p.m. at McKee Mortuary in North Manchester. Funeral services will take place Tuesday, Dec. 23, at 2 p.m., with burial at South Whitley Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Moose Charities in Carlโ€™s honor.
