It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we share the passing of Deacon Jack McKenna, a beloved servant of God and a cherished member of St. Joseph Church in Garden City, New York. News of his death has been met with shock and deep sadness by all who knew him, loved him, and were blessed by his ministry. Deacon Jack’s life was a testament to faith lived with humility, generosity, and unwavering devotion to Christ and His Church.
Deacon Jack was a man of strong and steady faith. Even while enduring his own medical challenges and personal trials, he remained steadfast in hope and trust in God. His quiet strength and peaceful confidence were a source of comfort to many. He was always available—for a conversation, a prayer, or gentle spiritual guidance—offering wisdom not with judgment, but with compassion and understanding.
His service to the Church extended far beyond the walls of St. Joseph. Recently, Deacon Jack joined the St. Joseph parish community for the Christmas Tree Lighting on December 6, 2025—a moment now remembered with gratitude as one of his final shared blessings. His presence among the parishioners was a gift, reflecting the joy and faith he carried throughout his life.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on December 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, Garden City. The parish extends its heartfelt condolences to Deacon Jack’s family, friends, fellow parishioners, and all who mourn his passing.
