Camila Mendoza Olmos Missing: Texas Teen Believed to Be in Imminent Danger, Sheriff Says

Camila Mendoza Olmos Missing—Authorities in Texas are intensifying efforts to locate Camila Mendoza Olmos, a 19-year-old who has been missing since Christmas Eve and is believed to be in “imminent danger,” according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. The case has drawn growing concern as days pass with no confirmed sightings and multiple agencies now assisting in the search.

Camila Mendoza Olmos was last seen early Wednesday morning, December 24, at her home in the 11000 block of Caspian Spring in northwest Bexar County. Surveillance footage reviewed by investigators shows an individual believed to be Camila around 7:00 a.m., searching inside her vehicle for an unidentified item. Authorities say her car was left behind at the residence, leading them to believe she left the area on foot.

According to investigators, the only items Camila may have taken with her were her car keys and possibly her driver’s license. Notably, she left her cellphone at home—an action Sheriff Javier Salazar described as “highly unusual” given her active lifestyle and normal habits. Family members became alarmed when Camila did not return after what they believed was her routine morning walk.

Sheriff Salazar confirmed on Sunday that deputies, search-and-rescue teams, and community volunteers have been working around the clock to locate the missing teen. The search has expanded beyond local resources, with the FBI providing technical assistance and the Department of Homeland Security monitoring border crossings and international travel activity.

“We definitely don’t want to miss anything,” Salazar said. “The ground search is somewhat limited to a couple of square miles, but we’re also not ruling out that this case may take us outside the borders of the continental United States.”

Investigators have not ruled out any possibilities regarding Camila’s disappearance. Sheriff Salazar stated that scenarios under consideration include kidnapping, human trafficking, or the possibility that she left on her own accord. Authorities confirmed that Camila recently experienced a romantic breakup; however, the breakup was described as mutual, and officials said there is no indication of foul play connected to it. Individuals close to her have reportedly been cooperative with investigators.

Camila was last seen wearing a baby-blue and black hoodie, baby-blue pajama bottoms, and white shoes. Sheriff Salazar also addressed online speculation, confirming that Camila, a U.S. citizen, was not detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Officials verified there were no immigration-related stops or detentions linked to her disappearance.

While law enforcement has withheld certain details to protect the integrity of the investigation, Salazar emphasized that enough evidence exists to believe Camila may be in immediate danger. Authorities are urging the public to assist by checking surveillance footage from nearby homes and businesses.
