WILSON’S MILLS, N.C. — Tragedy struck early on Christmas morning in Johnston County as a father and son lost their lives in a devastating house fire. Emergency crews were dispatched around 5:07 a.m. Thursday to a home on the 100 block of Red Oak Drive, and firefighters arrived about seven minutes later to find the single-family residence fully engulfed, with flames visible from the front of the home.

Multiple 911 calls had reported residents trapped inside the burning structure. The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office identified the victims as Johnny Jones and Scott Jones, a father and son. Authorities said a woman inside the home was able to escape without injuries, and neighbors assisted her after she made it out safely.
The cause of the fire has not yet been released and remains under investigation. The community is mourning the loss of Johnny and Scott Jones, offering support to surviving family members as they grapple with the heartbreaking tragedy on a day meant for celebration.
