VALLEY, Ala. — The Valley community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Jaelanya Heard, 32, who tragically lost her life in a two-vehicle crash on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.

The collision occurred at approximately 6:17 p.m. on Fob James Drive, between the Skating Rink and the Valley Police Department. Officers from the Valley Police Department and personnel from East Alabama Fire and EMS responded quickly after reports of the accident.
Upon arrival, emergency responders confirmed that two vehicles were involved. Jaelanya Heard, the driver of one vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene at the age of 32, leaving family, friends, and the community devastated by the sudden loss. A passenger in the same vehicle was airlifted to a hospital for treatment, though the extent of their injuries has not been released. Occupants of the second vehicle were transported by ambulance to a local hospital for medical evaluation and care.
