Trisha Hopkins Salem, OR Car Accident – The Salem, Oregon community is mourning the tragic loss of Trisha Hopkins, a 51-year-old woman who was killed in a car accident early Friday morning, December 27, 2025. Authorities say the fatal crash involved a suspected drunk driver and has been recorded as the city’s 11th traffic-related death of the year, underscoring growing concerns about impaired driving and roadway safety.

According to the Salem Police Department, the collision occurred at approximately 1:43 a.m. in the 1800 block of Lancaster Drive NE, between Market Street and Sunnyview Road. Hopkins was a passenger in a Nissan sedan traveling northbound at the time of the crash. The vehicle was driven by 33-year-old Karlie Dolan, a Salem resident.
Investigators report that the Nissan struck the rear of a tow truck that was stopped on the right-hand shoulder of the roadway. The tow truck was stationary and actively loading another vehicle when the impact occurred. Despite the severity of the crash, the tow truck driver was not injured.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the collision. Tragically, Trisha Hopkins was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash. Her sudden death has left family members, friends, and the wider Salem community grieving an unexpected and devastating loss.
Karlie Dolan, the driver of the Nissan, was transported to a local hospital for evaluation following the accident. After medical clearance, she was taken into custody and booked into the Marion County Jail. Police stated that preliminary testing indicated Dolan’s blood alcohol content (BAC) was more than three times Oregon’s legal limit of 0.08 percent at the time of the crash.
As a result of the investigation, Dolan is facing several serious criminal charges, including second-degree manslaughter, driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII), reckless driving, and reckless endangering. Authorities noted that these charges reflect the severe consequences of impaired driving and the loss of life resulting from the incident.
The Salem Police Traffic Team is leading the ongoing investigation. Officers are continuing to review evidence, including vehicle data and witness statements, to fully reconstruct the events leading up to the crash. Officials have not indicated whether additional charges may be filed pending further findings.
This fatal collision serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of driving under the influence and the irreversible impact such decisions can have. Law enforcement officials are urging drivers to make responsible choices, particularly during late-night hours, by using designated drivers, ride-share services, or other safe transportation options.
As Salem reflects on another traffic fatality, community members are remembering Trisha Hopkins and calling for increased awareness, accountability, and prevention efforts to help ensure safer roads for everyone.
