Eamon Hipps Burlington, NC Death and Obituary – It is with profound sadness that the Burlington and Alamance County communities mourn the passing of Eamon Hipps, a beloved 17-year-old student of Western Alamance High School, who tragically lost his life following a devastating car accident. Eamon’s sudden death has left an immeasurable void in the lives of his family, friends, teammates, coaches, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Eamon was widely known as a shining light within his community. His kindness, infectious smile, and unwavering loyalty made him someone people naturally gravitated toward. Whether in the classroom, on the soccer field, or at the pool, Eamon carried himself with humility, determination, and genuine care for others. Those closest to him describe a young man whose presence uplifted everyone around him and whose laughter could instantly brighten even the toughest days.
A gifted and dedicated athlete, Eamon excelled in both soccer and swimming, earning admiration for his strong work ethic and leadership. In 2024, he joined YBAC, where his passion for soccer was evident from the very beginning. His multi-sport abilities and commitment quickly set him apart, culminating in a series of remarkable achievements. Most notably, Eamon was named MVP of the 4A State Championship, earned his National Team cap at the Capital Classic, and, just two weeks before his passing, qualified for the YMCA Long Course National Championship—an extraordinary milestone in his young athletic career.
Beyond his own success, Eamon was deeply committed to giving back. He was a natural teacher and mentor, volunteering his time to coach goalie clinics and support the summer swim league. He took pride in helping younger athletes grow, always offering encouragement, guidance, and patience. His leadership extended far beyond competition, leaving a lasting impression on those he mentored.
Eamon’s passing has deeply affected the Western Alamance High School, Alamance County YMCA, and broader community. He was not only a standout athlete but also a devoted son, brother, friend, and teammate whose compassion and character defined him just as much as his talent.
The community continues to rally around Eamon’s parents, Kristin and Tim Hipps, and their family as they navigate this unimaginable loss.
