The victim, identified as Sandra Phelps, was sitting on a covered front porch with relatives on December 25 when she was suddenly struck by a single bullet. Witnesses stated that several gunshots were heard coming from the north shortly before Phelps was hit.
According to family members, Phelps initially appeared unaware of the seriousness of the situation.
