KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City police have identified the woman found dead Monday morning in an east-side homicide investigation as Sherrie Baier, 52, according to an update released Tuesday, Dec. 23.

The investigation began just after 10 a.m. Monday, when officers were dispatched to the area of 27th Street and Quincy Avenue on a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, police found an adult woman suffering from laceration injuries. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
While officers were still on scene, investigators received information leading them to a possible suspect location. At approximately 10:30 a.m., officers responded to the 6600 block of East 16th Street, where they located evidence indicating a separate crime scene. Officers were directed inside a residence, where they discovered an adult female suffering from unknown bodily trauma.
The woman, later identified as Sherrie Baier, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her death is being investigated as a homicide.
Police say a person of interest has been taken into custody pending further investigation. Detectives are working to determine what led up to the incidents and whether the two scenes are connected.
