Anthony Ungerman Boca Raton Florida Death and Obituary – It is with profound sorrow that family, friends, and the Boca Raton community mourn the passing of Anthony Ungerman, who died on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at the age of 60. Anthony was a respected technology leader, serving as Vice President of Security and Deputy Chief Security Officer at Avalara, where his work in cybersecurity and software innovation earned him both acclaim and the admiration of colleagues.

Born in Dallas, Texas, to Nancy and Jay Ungerman, Anthony was raised in a warm, close-knit household alongside his two older sisters, Carrie and Leslie, a younger brother, Garin, and a network of aunts, uncles, and cousins who were like siblings to him. From his earliest years, Anthony’s life was shaped by love, laughter, and an enduring sense of connection—values he carried into every aspect of his personal and professional life.
In his mid-20s, Anthony relocated to Miami, Florida, where he met his future wife, Marisa. Their partnership blossomed into a 35-year journey of love, friendship, and shared purpose. Together, they raised three daughters—Katya, Bianca, and Sabrina—and welcomed grandchildren who brought Anthony immense joy. Friends and family remember his devotion to everyday family moments, whether sharing meals, playing with the family cats, or celebrating his children’s achievements.
Anthony’s fascination with technology began at a young age. Receiving his first computer for his Bar Mitzvah in 1978 ignited a lifelong passion that led to a distinguished career in software engineering, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. His work earned him multiple patents, yet Anthony’s greatest impact was through mentorship and advocacy. He was a champion for underrepresented voices in technology, supporting women in computer science and advocating for LGBTQ+ inclusion, particularly trans rights.
Colleagues remember him as brilliant, humble, and generous with his time—always eager to help others succeed. Beyond his professional achievements, Anthony was known for his humor, intellect, and eclectic interests. He loved Billy Joel, chess, poker, video games, reading, and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys. His infectious laughter and thoughtful guidance left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Anthony Ungerman’s life was one of love, purpose, and generosity. He is survived by his wife, Marisa; daughters Katya (and husband), Bianca (and Conor), and Sabrina; grandchildren; parents Nancy and Jay; and siblings Carrie, Leslie, and Garin. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at 9:00 AM at Glick Family Funeral Home, 3600 N Federal Hwy, Boca Raton, FL, followed by shiva at Woodfield Country Club.
